The NCAA is the only formal athletic organization that offers scholarships to male and female gymnasts, making this sport one of the most highly competitive for earning scholarship money. Iron Cross Foundation
The Iron Cross Foundation has the mission to help young men of all backgrounds enjoy gymnastics. Any male USA Gymnastics athlete members who have completed for at least one year is eligible for apply. Those interested in these gymnastics scholarships must submit the official application along with three recommendations, school transcripts, and an essay on “My Gymnastics Dreams” by October 15. Scholarship amounts may vary depending upon the available funds and individual financial need. All awards are for one year, although students may apply each year. Eligible students must have at least a C average, must submit updates about competition and training experience, and must present a year-end report about his experience regarding the scholarship. Trampoline and Tumbling Scholarship Program
These gymnastics scholarships are designed to help trampoline and tumbling students pay for education while continuing training and competition for USA Gymnastics. To be eligible, students must be at least 17 years old and must be enrolled in at least eight hours at an accredited university or college. In addition, applicants must be current athletes with USA Gymnastics in the trampoline and tumbling program and must have at least a 2.5 GPA. AAU Gymnastics College Scholarship
In order to be eligible for these scholarships, nominees must be seniors in high school who have competed in AAU gymnastics meets for the previous two years and have competed at the national level. The program offers four types of scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,500. To apply, students must list extracurricular activities, write a short essay about gymnastics experience, and provide a letter of recommendation. Wendy’s High School Heisman Award
To be eligible for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award, students must have at least a 3.0 high school GPA and be a community and school leader as well as a role model for other teens. The first 25,000 students to apply for a scholarship will receive a Wendy’s gift card valued at between $10 and $50. To apply, students need a school official to complete an application review.
