Applications are now being accepted for one of the most lucrative scholarships available. The Buick Achievers Scholarship provides around 1,000 students with $2,000 scholarships, and 100 other students with up to $25,000 a year. The scholarships are designed for college-bound seniors or undergraduate students who have shown academic excellence, leadership potential, and activity in volunteer and community service work who may not otherwise be able to afford college.
Who is Eligible?
Eligible applicants must be high school seniors or graduates or currently be enrolled in an undergraduate degree program. Applicants must be enrolled in, or planning to enroll in, a U.S. or Puerto Rico accredited four-year university or college for the upcoming academic year. In addition, students must be majoring in Engineering/Technology or certain other Business and Design fields and must be interested in entering a career in the automotive industry. Finally, applicants must be U.S citizens living in the U.S. or Puerto Rico.
How Recipients Are Chosen
Scholarships offered through this program will be awarded based on financial need and academic achievement as well as work experience, interest in the automotive industry, and participation in community, school, and leadership activities. Preference will be given to those pursuing Engineering/Technology degrees.
Recipients will receive awards at one of two possible levels. One thousand applicants will receive one-time scholarships of $2,500 each. In addition, 100 recipients will receive renewable scholarships of up to $25,000 a year, not to exceed the total cost of college attendance after receipt of other gift aid. These scholarships are renewable for four years or for five-year engineering programs. In order to renew the scholarships, students must maintain an eligible major, full-time enrollment, and at least a 3.0 GPA.
