Best Buy is an electronics giant and the go-to place for many Americans when they need new electronics, appliances, movies, music, and more. Best Buy is giving back to the public through the Best Buy Children’s Foundation scholarships. The Foundation works to help teenagers develop valuable technology skills that will help them achieve success throughout their lives. It also helps by providing college money to students from 9th through 12th grade.
About the Scholarships
Since its beginnings in 1999, the Best Buy scholarships program has provided over $20 in college funding to high school students across the nation. The application period opened December 26 and will remain open until February 15. During this award period, 1,100 high school students in the United States and Puerto Rico who are planning to enter a full-time degree program after graduation will receive $1,000 each to help cover tuition and other costs. Students who have previously won scholarships through this program are not eligible to apply.
Who is Eligible?
In order to receive scholarship money from Best Buy, students must be in high school and planning to attend a college, university, or vocational school in the fall immediately after graduation. In addition, students must demonstrate academic achievement with a 2.5 or higher GPA as well as community volunteer service and/or employment experience. Awards provided to students in each high school grade level will be determined by the total of applications received for each group.
