Tourism Cares offers academic and professional development hospitality scholarships. Every year, this program provides 50 students with academic scholarships, valued at between $1,000 and $5,000. The program also provides multiple professional development scholarships in varying amounts. Applications for these scholarships are accepted between February and April 1 of each year. To be eligible, students must be permanent residents or citizens of the United States or Canada and must be enrolled at least part time in a hospitality, tourism, or travel program of study. Keith R. Kittle Memorial Travel and Tourism Scholarship
These hospitality scholarships are provided by the San Francisco Bay Area Attractions Council and are named in honor of the former manager of the Winchester Mystery House. Scholarships are valued at $1,000 each and are paid directly to the recipient. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be a resident of Northern California who is attending or registered to attend a two- or four-year college in a hospitality management or travel and tourism program. To apply, candidates must complete the official application and submit an essay on why they chose a career in the industry. Dr. Bill Newton – Kathy Neville Professional Scholarship
Each year, the NTA offers two of these $1,000 hospitality scholarships. Eligible applicants may be permanent residents of any country who have attended the ITMI annual symposium or have completed appropriate training. Since these are reimbursement scholarships, students can apply up to 12 months after completion of the requirements. To apply, candidates must submit an official application, a copy of a passport or driver’s license, and a letter of recommendation from an ITMI faculty member. Applicants must also answer scholarship questions and submit proof of course completion and full payment from ITMI or a copy of the official conference badge. All materials are due by July 1. NEWH Sustainable Hospitality Design Competition
This competition is open each year and offers hospitality scholarships in the amount of $5,000, one to an undergraduate student and one to a graduate student. The competition is open to all students of accredited interior design programs. Projects must be submitted by an instructor or student by February 15th. Although project specifics vary from year to year, the competition is always based on sustainable design in the hospitality industry. All work must be original and students are limited to one submission. Students who wish to participate must complete an Intent to Participate by December 21 and must include a Project Submittal Form with the project by February 15. George T. Snyder, Jr., Scholarship Program
Each Year, this program provides numerous $2,500 hospitality scholarships to ABA members. Eligible applicants must be employees or the dependents of employees who work full time with ABA bus and tour or other member companies. American Express Scholarship
This program was started in 1994 by American express and is designed to offer hospitality scholarships to those currently working in lodging as well as their dependents. To be eligible, students must be currently enrolled part- or full-time in an accredited college or university and must be working at least 20 hours per week at an AH&LA member hotel. To qualify, students must have at least a year of hotel experience or be the child of a qualified employee and have some experience in the hospitality industry. The program offers $2,000 scholarships to full-time bachelor’s degree students, $1,000 to part-time bachelor’s or full-time associate’s degree students, or $500 to part-time associate’s degree students.
