Nevada Scholarships

Students today have more opportunities than ever before, and students in Nevada are no exception. There are many scholarships in Nevada that provide students with valuable funding to attend a college or university. These programs are vital because they provide free money for students who may otherwise have to take large student loans or forego college altogether. If you live in Nevada and need help paying for a college education, check out these outstanding scholarship programs:

Nevada Millennium Scholarship

All Nevada students are eligible for a Millennium Scholarship automatically when they meet the program criteria. To qualify, students must graduate from a Nevada high school with at least a 3.25 GPA and a passing score on all areas of the Nevada High School Proficiency Examination. In addition, students must be a resident of Nevada for at least two of the high school years and have completed the Nevada core curriculum. This curriculum consists of four units of English, four units of math, three units of natural science, and three units of social science and history. To receive funding, eligible students must enroll full-time at an accredited Nevada college or university in a degree granting program. Qualified recipients will receive an award packet and must submit an acknowledgment of award form. To continue receiving funding, students must be making satisfactory academic progress with at least a 2.6 GPA for the first year and 2.75 GPA for subsequent semesters. In addition, recipients are encouraged to volunteer at least 20 hours of community service for each year they receive a Millennium Scholarship. Italian Catholic Federation Scholarships

To qualify for these scholarships, students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 and be Roman Catholic with at least a parent or grandparent member of the Italian Catholic Federation. Recipients receive $400 for the first year, $500 for the second year, $600 for the third year, and $1,000 for the fourth year as long as eligibility requirements are met. Recipients will be chosen based on GPA, class rank, financial need, leadership abilities, references and recommendations, extracurricular and charitable activities, and family membership and activities in the ICF. National Academy of Television, Arts, and Sciences

This program provides scholarships to undergraduate students enrolled in at least nine units and graduate students enrolled in at least six units at an accredited college or university. To be eligible, students must be residents of the Pacific Southwest Chapter Area and be planning to pursue a career in telecommunications or a related field. Recipients will be chosen based on scholarship, creative achievement, and financial need. To apply, students must submit a film or video production or written script along with a description of the submission. Students must also submit a short statement of career goals, a list of special circumstances, official transcripts, and a letter of recommendation by April 1. Microsoft Licensing Community Scholarship

To be eligible for these scholarships, students must be enrolling for the first time at a Truckee Meadows Community College or University of Nevada Reno as full-time students in business, information technology, human resources, finance, or accounting. Students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and demonstrate financial need. The program provides two $3,000 scholarships to students attending Truckee Meadows Community College and one $5,000 scholarship to a student attending the University of Nevada Reno. To apply, students must submit the scholarship application form along with an essay detailing the impact of technology on the student’s work and/or life by April 1.
