New Century Scholarship
This scholarship is provided through the Utah Board of Regents and provides students with $1,100 per semester. To be eligible, students must be graduates from a Utah high school with at least a 3.5 GPA and must complete an associate’s degree or the approved Math and Science Curriculum from an eligible institution of higher education by the time of high school graduation. In addition, students must be citizens or eligible non-citizens of the United States who are enrolling full-time in a bachelor’s degree program for the fall semester after high school graduation. The funds are available to students who have earned an associate’s degree from Dixie State College, USU-CEU, Salt Lake Community College, Snow College, Southern Utah University, Utah State University, Utah Valley University, the University of Utah, and Weber State University. The Utah Scholars program provides scholarship money to students who have completed the Utah Scholars Core Course of Study during high school. This curriculum involves four years of English, four years of advanced mathematics, three and a half years of social science, three years of lab sciences, and two years of foreign language. Daniels Fund Scholarship
This scholarship program is for current graduating seniors in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming. To be eligible, students must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and must demonstrate financial need. In addition, students must score a 17 or higher on the ACT or an 830 or higher combined and critical reading score on the SAT. This program offers funds to cover the total unmet need after the student has exhausted other financial aid sources and has met the Expected Family Contribution. Recipients may renew the scholarship for up to 8 semesters as long as requirements are met. While receive the scholarship, students are require to work at least 125 hours during the first year and 250 hours during following years. Semifinalists will also be required to submit official high school transcripts, standardized test scores, tax information, proof of citizenship, CSS profile, and any other requested documents upon request. Jiffy Lube Teen Drivers Scholarship
This program provides two scholarships of $5,000 each and two scholarships of $1,500 each to qualifying students. The scholarships are open to students between the ages of 15 and 17 who are currently attending high school and are enrolled in a driver’s education program as well as students between the ages of 16 and 18 who are already licensed and are attending Utah public high schools. To apply, students must submit the scholarship application, an essay, and other required documents by March 25. Recipients will be chosen by uniqueness of ideas, inventions, or problem solving solutions, personal interests, goals, drive, and ambition, originality and enthusiasm, comprehensiveness and persuasiveness, passion for higher learning, and pursuit of entrepreneurial endeavors. ACLU Youth Activist Scholarship Program
The ACLU Youth Activist Scholarship Program provides three $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors who have shown a strong commitment to civil liberties through activism and who are college bound. To be eligible, students must be residents of Utah and must be planning to enter college as a full-time, degree-seeking student. In addition, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA and be able to prove strong commitment to civil liberties through activism addressing equality, racial justice, free speech, religious freedom, privacy, and tolerance. Applicants will be judged based on the strength and depth of contributions to civil liberties, leadership, likelihood of continued promotion of civil liberties, commitment to academics, and financial need. To apply, students must complete the scholarship application and submit it along with a 1,000-word essay, transcripts, and two recommendation forms by January 7. This scholarship is provided by the Utah Hispanic Business Leadership foundation to improve education and opportunities for Hispanic/Latino professionals and students. The awards are designed to recognize vocational and academic achievement, school leadership, and community or other service as well as to help with financial need. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in a high school, college, university, or vocational school or have been recently admitted. In addition, students must be of Hispanic or Latino descent and living in Utah. To apply, students must submit the completed scholarship form along with a brief personal history, high school or college transcripts, and two letters of recommendation by September 14.
