The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Scholarships
The Astronaut Scholarship Foundation was started by the astronauts of Mercury 7. The program provides 28 students with $10,000 scholarships each year and has the goal of promoting technology and science to the public at large. College scholarships are provided to candidates who are pursuing degrees in science, mathematics, engineering, or technology. To receive the scholarship, candidates must be college sophomores, have an impeccable GPA, and have a record of substantial research and lab work in their chosen field of study. The Ninety-Nines, Inc., is the International Organization of Women Pilots. This organization provides Amelia Earhart Memorial Awards and Scholarships that fully cover the costs of technical training, flight training, jet training, and emergency maneuver training. In addition, the scholarships come with a $5,000 per year, renewable scholarship fund for a degree in aerospace or aviation. In order to be eligible, applicants must be members of the 99s and must have a recommendation from the local club chapter. The deadline for applying is December 20 of each year.
Aircraft Electronics Association Educational Foundation Scholarships
These scholarships provide financial assistance for college students who are pursuing degrees in aviation maintenance or aircraft electronics. The scholarships can range from $1,000 awards to $35,000 and include a variety of options including those that are school specific, those for Canadian study, those for particular program types, and those for European students. Aero Club of New England
The Aero Club of New England, or ACONE, provides several scholarships for New England residents who are interested in aircraft maintenance or completing pilot training. If you are interested in the Pilot Scholarship, you must hold current Medical and Airman Certificates, and must have completed at least 100 hours of flight time. For the Aircraft Maintenance Scholarship, you must be at least 16 years of age, demonstrate financial need, and use the funds within one academic year. The application deadline is March 30.
