U.S. Department of State Funds Travel Grants

The United States Department of State is funding travel grants for students studying civil engineering or the history of engineering. These scholarships will provide a travel experience to Egypt for students who are participating in the Cairo University Civil Engineering or the Summer history of Engineering for a semester.

In order to be eligible for these scholarships, students must be participants of AMIDEAST Education Abroad Programs in association with Cairo University. In addition, students must be eligible for Stafford Loans and Pell Grants before they can be eligible for these scholarships.

How to Apply

In order to apply for these scholarships, students must submit applications electronically by the deadline. Scholarship applications must include the official scholarship application form, a resume, and a 500-word typed, single-spaced essay. The essay should address how your time abroad will help you meet your personal and academic goals, your history as a first-generation college student or member of an underrepresented group, financial need and how the scholarship money will meet that need, and any other special circumstances that you feel make you the best candidate for the scholarship. All completed materials must be emailed to edabroad@mideast.org.

Deadline for spring of 2013 is October 15, 2012.

If you have been looking for a way to expand your horizons and to experience other parts of the world, travel scholarships such as this one are a great way to get that opportunity. If you meet the requirements for the grant, make sure to get your materials turned in by the deadline for your once-in-a-lifetime chance to visit and study in beautiful Egypt.
