The ASRT Foundation has announced a new scholarship program that will help students earn their first degree in radiologic science. This scholarship will be available every year and will help multiple radiologic science students cover the cost of earning an associate’s or bachelor’s degree with a $2,000 award.
This program was started because it can be very difficult for a working professional to get a first college degree, and the association wants to help its members achieve their dreams of a higher education by making it easier to afford. The organization hopes the scholarship program will help radiologic technologists improve their skills so they can provide enhanced patient care and advance their careers within the field.
The scholarship is funded by ASRT Foundation donors who feel that this scholarship program showcases the commitment that radiologic technologists have toward helping others and advancing the profession they care so deeply about.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applications for these scholarships are available from November 1, 2012 to February 1, 2013. In order to be eligible for an award, radiologic technologists must currently be working toward their first college degree and must be attending a properly accredited college or university. In addition, all applicants must be current members of the ASRT.
Scholarship winners will be chosen based on excellent academic achievement, financial need, and demonstration of leadership qualities. The ASRT Scholarship Review Committee will evaluate each scholarship application and make recommendations for recipients to the Board of Trustees. It will then be up to the Board of Trustees to approve all scholarship recipients.
