Wyoming Scholarships

Wyoming offers many fine colleges and universities, and the state’s residents can easily up their education and earning potential by earning a degree. The costs of college can be daunting for many, however, and they feel that they cannot afford to get the degree they need. If you are looking for funding for your degree, scholarships in Wyoming can help you make the costs of higher education much more reasonable.

Mabel C. Sargent Scholarship

One of the best nursing scholarships in Wyoming is the Mabel C. Sargent Scholarship. This program provides financial help to nursing students who are juniors or seniors in the BSN program at the University of Wyoming. Recipients are chosen for these awards based on academic excellence, leadership, and participation in extra-curricular and community events. To be eligible for these scholarships, you must have at least a 3.0 GPA and must be attending school full time. The program provides six students each year with $5,000. The funds can be combined with those from other scholarships and programs as long as total awards do not equal more than the cost of tuition, fees, books, equipment, and supplies. Applications are available through the University of Wyoming School of Nursing as well as the Wyoming Community Foundation. The deadline to apply is February 1. Eugene Maughan Graduate Student Scholarships

Students seeking scholarships in Wyoming can earn up to $3,000 through this program. The awards are available to students in master’s or doctoral programs in the field of fisheries science. In addition, students who apply for this scholarship will also be automatically considered for a Sustainable Fisheries Foundation scholarship. Eligible applicants will be chosen for scholarship awards based on achievement in the last 60 hours of completed coursework, the potential to advance and contribute to the fisheries profession, and progress toward a dissertation project or thesis. Applications are due in mid-May and can be found at wdaf.org.

Society of Women Engineers – Rocky Mountain Section

Women looking for scholarships in Wyoming may be interested in this program. Students who are high school seniors in Wyoming who are in the top 25% of the class, have at least a 3.5 GPA, and intend to major in engineering, engineering technology, or computing through an ABET accredited program. The minimum scholarship amount is $500. To apply, students must submit an official application, supplementary information, personal essay, transcripts, and two letters of reference by February 1. Hathaway Success Scholarship

Of all the scholarships in Wyoming, the Hathaway Success Scholarship is one of the best. Students who complete the Hathaway Success Curriculum with a qualifying GPA and ACT Score can automatically earn $1,600 for each semester of college. The Hathaway Success Curriculum includes four years each of mathematics, English, and science, three years of social studies, and two years of a sequenced foreign language. BNSF Scholarships

Another of the wonderful scholarships in Wyoming, the BNSF Scholarships are available to Wyoming high school seniors. This program provides eight merit scholarships each year from each of the four geographic quadrants. Interested students must submit a 500-word leadership essay. The top four winners in each quadrant receive $2,500 in funds each year for four years. In addition, four runners-up in each quadrant will receive a $2,500 nonrenewable scholarship. Applications are available online at aim.applyists.net from March 1 to April 1. This program is part of the BNSF Foundation’s mission to advance the quality of life in the BNSF Railway service area.
